Introduction to TrustHab ZWave Inclusion/Exclusion

< 1 min read

The inclusion/exclusion of Z-Wave devices into a TrustHab environment is an important function which is performed via the Installer Page from the Main Menu. It is important that inclusion be performed when both the Device entry in TrustHab shows no device paired and the device itself is void of having a NodeId registered in its memory. For screen-based devices, this is easy to determine, however, many Home Automation devices do not have screens and depend on very specific manufacturer instructions to either ‘reset’ a device or place a device in ‘inclusion’ or ‘exclusion’ mode.

This document has specific sections for performing the following on devices for ‘Inclusion’ and ‘Exclusion’ process:

  • Preparing TrustHab for a successful device ‘Inclusion’
  • Preparing the device for a successful ‘Inclusion’
  • Preparing TrustHab for a successful device ‘Exclusion’
  • Preparing the device for a successful ‘Exclusion’

And there are appendices in this document which address the following actions on for each TrustHab supported device:

  • Initiating Inclusion mode for a device which is ‘New in Box’ (NiB)
  • Initiating Inclusion mode for a device which is ‘Unpackaged’
  • Resetting a device to factory defaults
  • Initiating Exclusion mode for a device
